I’m currently doing a paper on Anti-Semitism in Christology and Pauline teachings. (opposing the suggestion that Jesus’ teachings were anti-Semitic) Having done the necessary research to actually write it, I’ve realized just how much material there is out there arguing that Anti-Semitism was spurred from Jesus’ teachings. *annoyed*
The thing that bothers me most is that the number of academics, authors, etc that have stood up to argue against this notion have been labeled ‘fundamentalists’ and have been clearly outnumbered by their opposition. There is so much material that bends the truth or plays on contextual misinterpretation, much of it being relatively convincing to anyone who is not stable in their faith or theology, ultimately having the power to persuade the naïve to believe such obscene untruths. Pft. Jesus anti-Semitic? Come on..!

One thing I would like to ask you, is to change your text color. It's very hard to read.
I am not very familiar with the writings of the fundamentalists you're talking about, but I am familiar with the Bible a little bit. And I have no idea why anyone would say Jesus is anti-semitic.
There is a verse at some point where Jesus literally cries for Jerusalem, knewing what's gonna happen to it, and due to the fact that he knew that the jews wouldn't accept Him as the messiah, and there are many more arguments regarding this.
I'm not very good at theology, however that's my opinion. He didn't hate them, He loved them, but He knew that they wouldn't accept Him. That explains a lot.
Canadian, eh?

Thats an interesting topic you chose. The idea that anti semitism was started by Jesus is absurd since Jesus himself was a Jew who worshipped in synagogues alongside his bretheren. When Jesus criticized the pharisees and called them hypocrites and white washed tombs and so on, he was not criticizing their race, but rather their false religious teachings. If Jesus was anti semitic, he would not have lamented over Jerusalem nor chosen 12 Jews to be his disciples and later, teachers of Christianity.
Having this said, it is possible or safe to say that people who were anti-semitic used Christianity to propagate or justify their hate against the Jews.
Btw I wouldn't mind reading your paper after its finished. :)

LoL I'm in no way arguing that anti-semitism was inspired by Christ, but just annoyed that so much material can be found arguing otherwise, and so little arguing the point I am trying to.. I can imagine some child in faith reading what appears to be an academic document and being convinced into believing such untruths.
It's definately interesting to argue for the reason that all my references come from sources that argue against what I am. LoL <headdesk>
One author argues that it's no wonder people will believe Jesus was anti-semitic because of the Jews that are identified to us in the Gospels; Judas Iscariot, Annas, Caiaphas, the scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees who all at one point or another confront Jesus and try to corner him with their trick questions. There is not much mention of the sincere Jews that followed the Law and loved God wholeheartedly, since Jesus had no issue with them ultimately. lol He further points out (this we should already know) that Jesus critisized their hypocritical acts, not their teachings..
Some of the controversies surrounding Jesus are so ludicrous to a Christian.. this one is by far my favourite one to shake my head at. lol
