Is it just me or do romanian churches smell?

Everyone at the church is pretty clean, and I think everyone brushed their teeth, even the old people (there are a lot of old people at my church). The only problem is that the basement where we all gather to talk smells rancid, like a really old basement, but it also smells like old coffee grounds. I love my church but it's no olefactory wonderland!

I was originally going to tell you to invest in more plug-ins or something, but maybe that will just mask the odor or add to it, creating a "new" odor. They have some cleaning products that "neutralizes" the odor as opposes to just masking it. You might want to check out some of that stuff. Maybe it will help. It's old tar tile flooring in the basement, it's not like the carpet is holding in the smell. The basement is locked up a lot,actually the whole church is, it's in kind of a bad area, so they have locks and bars over everything. We have prayer meeting on wednesdays, they open the gates to the parking lot from 7 to 7:30, then they close them, so if you're late, you have to go in the back way, which is through an alley and stuff. The doors to the church get locked 30 minutes after prayer meeting is over, so it stays locked a lot of the time, that contributes to the musty odor a lot. We need more than plug ins, we need a good ventilation system and more people in the church, so that it's more active!

Saint Joe: I was originally going to tell you to invest in more plug-ins or something, but maybe that will just mask the odor or add to it, creating a "new" odor. They have some cleaning products that "neutralizes" the odor as opposes to just masking it. You might want to check out some of that stuff. Maybe it will help. I don't know what kind of flooring is in the basement of your church?

It's old tar tile flooring in the basement, it's not like the carpet is holding in the smell. The basement is locked up a lot,actually the whole church is, it's in kind of a bad area, so they have locks and bars over everything. We have prayer meeting on wednesdays, they open the gates to the parking lot from 7 to 7:30, then they close them, so if you're late, you have to go in the back way, which is through an alley and stuff. The doors to the church get locked 30 minutes after prayer meeting is over, so it stays locked a lot of the time, that contributes to the musty odor a lot. We need more than plug ins, we need a good ventilation system and more people in the church, so that it's more active!

Sorry, Credinta. I didn't know gog was a pastor. You didn't capitalize his name or give him a title. I thought gog was short for synagogue. No harm meant in comparison of gog with dog.

...strict rules...no gum, candy, food, drinks, or feeding of babies in church...there is a dessignated room for that...
...if you get caught, one of the ushers will come to you and ask you to give him the contraband...hehe...no joke...there's one that will take food or candy from a little kid and throw it away...don't care if the kid starts crying...they should not be in the main auditorium anyway...they have their own classes...lil punks...hehe...jk ;)

Hmmm... I hope that our new church does not smell. Hopefully, the plumbing and the air vents have to be done properly. And we'll make sure to pass out breath mints for all the people coming in. That's a great idea!

I was on mission about two years ago in Romania, and I noticed the number of stray dogs that walk around, without any apparent owners. I guess the city pound is not really a concern for Romania. Anyhow, I suggested to my friend, who was walking with me to the store, that someone should open up a Chinese restaurant over there. They would make some money, and get rid of the stray dog problem at the same time.
