Well, as we are getting used to this new version of ROYOUTH v3.8b we have tried to add the ARTICLES section. As some of you might have seen it has been hard to get it going. So, I have been researching perhaps to take away that section until later on... to replace it with another feature.
One feature I found that I thought would be useful for the online community is a roBLOG feature.... what is a BLOG?
A roBLOG will basically be an ONLINE JOURNAL each member would have to post daily anything they wish (of course within the boundaries of the royouth rules/regulations).
Since BLOGS are very popular these days. why not have on royouth?! :D ... what do you honestly think? please vote and then post comments, ideas, suggestions...

I think its a good idea.

as i said in the first post. it is basically an ONLINE JOURNAL ... where you write/report/have fun... its your little corner of 'royouth' ;) .... here you can share anything you wish with whoever you wish. just kept clean :sly:
...its not meant for 'discussions'... it is basically something where you can log anything you wish and have other members check out a bit more about yourself. this way... people would have an opp to share more personal information. and get to know others alot more.... so this way. when members meet at events, conventions, church, etc. they'll know more about that person than just in the profile.

the BASIC forum is more of an actual 'forum' where discussion is encouraged. but a roBLOG is more of an online journal. look at sites like BLOGGER and others.. :) ... it wont be as advanced as that.. .but the main options should be there.
... plus it will be directly related to your overall royouth account.

oh for a sec i thought it's gonna' be like a personal journal/diary ex: dear diary today i.....blah blah blah  i see, royouthers will get to know each other better :)
:D u know ppl will use it as a dating opportunity

actually... you would be able to make it VISIBLE and INVISIBLE to other members... so if you DO want to keep an online personal DAIRY, you are free to...
if you want to just place updates and info about yourself and current status, you're free to that as well and make it public.
... as i said. something to have as 'yours' on royouth i guess :)
... as for 'dating opportunities'... the desperate ones will do anything for a date no matter what you do or dont. :D

no, you are forced to log something daily... if you don't, then your royouth account will become expired... this is that "special" incentive to make members more active... lol...

please always read the first post of the thread! ... i mentioned in the first posts that it will have a feature where if you dont want your entry to be public, you can make it private... and actually, you can only invite certain people 'buddies' to view your private entries if you choose :)

i think this is a great idea, and would be a cool feature for some people. personally, i don't know if i would really want to invite anyone to read any of my journals, or whether i would be interested in reading anyone else's personal daily journals. i spend enough time online as it is just reading through these various threads, trying to decipher whether or not people are trying to be honest or not.
besides, you can already tell a good deal from somebody's postings. unless they don't post too often, and decide to keep an online journal, then i guess you wouldn't get that opportunity to see what kind of person that particular member is.

with a roBLOG, i am hoping that it will substitute the 'ARTICLES' by having the roBLOGS evolving into a 'journalstic columns' ... thats what alot of current BLOGS are.... of course, also alot are just for wasting space and putting up blabber and jibberish that noone really cares for. but thats is the overall nature of a dairy/journal.... and of course the roBLOG section will have cool little features to hopefully encourage quality content. ;)
... so the roBLOGGERS would have a little community for themselves. ;)

i have a hard time believing that certain postings will "evolve" into journalistic columns, in form or content; however, i do have a higher rate of belief in your second statement in regards to the reason of the existence of roblogs, and that being "wasting space and putting up blabber and jibberish that noone really cares for".
as long as it it controlled, then that is great. i mean, you would think that spam could be controlled in the threads simply by having a chatroom available for "small talk", but that does not seem to stop members from having small chats within the threads...
one: hi, how are you?
two: i'm great, and u?
one: kind of bored
two: why?
one: because
two: because why?
yeah... if a roblog can encourage members to put this stuff in their journals, then i support it 100%. again, i have not seen rochat help with this situation, so i am not very confident about roblogs helping this situation... but, it still sounds like a fun idea. i know that many members became distracted by the arcade section when it was first introduced, and i'm still trying to determine whether or not that was a good idea, based upon the participation in the forums. hmmm...

I am in the process of an article, but it's still in progress:) As for a RoBlog, it sounds like a good idea, because the more of a one stop shop that RoYouth is, the more people will be drawn to the site for its variety and will stay for the Christian message.

How are you planning on enforcing the royouth rules/regulations as applied to roblogs?
Besides that question I think roBlogs is a great idea. :clap1:

I didn't vote for yes, but now I wish I had. Yea, roblogs would be great, for people who have no clue what that is, go to livejournal.com, or xanga.com, bloggers.com they are all overe the place.

I m too lazy to see if someone already asked this but... can other ppl read our "diaries"?
If so.. I dont think the blog is a great idea.. a diary is supposed to hold each idividuals "secrets"and it would be wrong if the PUBLIC could see it :D
Nygel
09-26-2004, 05:41 PM
If you want to keep something private my advice Jacqueline is to not put it on the internet. A blog isn't supposed to be private, you write stuff that you want others to see. So in other words it is not the same thing as a diary.
BUT, you do have the option of choosing who can view your entries. You can make them relatively "private" where supposedly only you can view them. :D
