My purpose is to help you to discover Bible verses which enhance the four essential components of successful prayer: PRAISE, THANKSGIVING, INTERCESSION AND PETITION. Let us start with PRAISE.

In the NT all believers are priests (1 Peter 2:9). Therefore, the first step in our prayers is to “enter His courts with praise”. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name” (Ps. 100:4). The earthly priests began their daily work in the courtyard of the sanctuary. They entered reverently, chanting or singing praises to God. This praise honored God and prepared the way for Him to work in the salvation of the people.

Morning Psalm

Praise the Lord!
Praise Him in morning worship;
praise Him as the sun arises.
Praise Him for His providence;
praise Him for His kindness and His mercy.
Praise Him with the voice of prayer;
praise Him with repentance and confession.
Praise Him with faith and adoration;
praise Him with openness and honesty.
Praise Him with words and with actions.
Let all whose hearts respond to God's grace praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

Powerful Praise

A vast allied army pushed ahead through the hills between the Dead Sea and Jerusalem. Ammon, Moab, and Edom had decided to unite their armies and attack Judah.

King Jehoshaphat, realizing that Judah's meager forces would be crushed, called a fast and urged every¬one to "seek the Lord." Before a large group assembled in the courts of the temple, the king himself appealed to God for help. His public prayer began with praise: "O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you." 2 Chronicles 20:6.

Early the next morning the soldiers of Judah marched out to confront the invaders in the Desert of Tekoa, south of Jerusalem. Jehoshaphat decided to organize his troops in an unusual way. At the very head of his army he placed a company of singers dressed in "holy attire" (NASB), who led the way with praises to God "for the splendor of his holiness." This army was aiming not just at an enemy but even more at the Almighty.

As the men of Judah sang praises, God threw the invader's army into chaos. Ammonites began attacking Edomites. The soldiers thought they saw ambushes everywhere. Moabites and Ammonites started killing each other. The confusion grew into a terrible slaughter.

By the time Jehoshaphat's praising army arrived on the scene, the Desert of Tekoa was strewn with corpses. A massive invasion had been defeated. And Judah's sol¬diers didn't even unsheath their swords. What they did do, very courageously, was to go out against a superior force with the weapon of praise. Their God did the rest.

Praise is powerful. Praise accomplishes great things. But too often we just rush into prayer with a list of re¬quests. Or else we barely manage to keep our thoughts from wandering as we go through familiar phrases. Starting our prayers with a time of praise to God would help us avoid both pitfalls. Praise can be the most dy¬namic element in our prayer life. It is a way of focusing our minds on the Person of God Himself. It helps us "seek His face." God Himself, not just His blessings, must be the major "target" in our prayer life.

At the start of prayer, fix in your mind the glorious Person you're conversing with. Use the following verses as windows through which your own thoughts stretch out in praise.

In general the following Scripture references are from NIV.

Every living thing Ps. 150:6

Of course, there are many, many more beautiful praise portions of the Bible. You can add your personal praise, your appreciation for God’s special blessings to you.

Often as you begin your morning prayers, the birds are singing outside your window. You have to recognize that you are only one small part of God's creation who is praising Him.

Mockingbird Psalm

Every morning the mockingbirds
express
their joy at being alive.
Their little breasts
fill with the breath of life,
their vocal cords swell
and they trill again and again
in varying accents
and combinations of notes.
Praise Him, Praise Him,
again and again they proclaim.

Lord, in the morning
I too come to You
with praise.
May my joy be
as great,
my song as thankful,
my heart as humble,
as the mockingbird.

INTRODUCERE

*****

„A former bass player in Bill Haley and His Comets tells why he now chooses not to use rock music to attract youth.”

“Louis Torres. Puerto Rico-born musician who replaced “Al Rappa” on bass guitar for a tour in late 1967/early 1968. Prior to working with Haley, Torres was a member of a group called The Vampires. Around his time with The Comets, Torres found religion... After leaving The Comets, Torres and his wife began performing religious classical music and in 1974 were regular performers on New York City TV programs. As of late 2002, Torres was planning to release a CD of music with his wife and daughter.”

“Christian Rock?”

"Why don't you see if you could have your group change the words to your music?" my new pastor asked, naively. "In this way," he went on, "you could continue to perform and also win people to Christ."

I had just quit performing with the world-famous rock group, Bill Haley and His Comets... (Bill Haley, incidentally, wrote the widely famous song, "Rock Around the Clock.")

As my pastor spoke to me, I immediately became aware that he had no inkling as to what he was asking of me. I respected him for his wisdom, but from his suggestion I saw that he was totally ignorant of the utter impos¬sibility of what he was asking. It was tantamount to asking a cobra to turn into a butterfly.

My pastor's intentions were the best. He assumed that the prestige of the famous group I had so recently played with could be an effective means for reaching his youth. However, his request reminded me all too well of my introduction into the rock-music scene a few years earlier, in my youth.

The Priests' Mistake. In order to keep us young people off the streets, the priests of my parish at that time had decided to host dances in a location where our behavior could be monitored. Where was the best place? The church gymnasium, of course. So every Friday night the gym was packed. While the priests patrolled the area, kids danced away the hours to the pounding rhythms of the invited rock groups. To us boys, the excellence of the location was a major factor, for St. Michael's parish sponsored an all-girl school! Of course, it was imperative that we maintain high standards. No one could enter the gym without proper attire. Shirt, tie, and jacket were required of the boys, and something equivalent of the girls.

As we danced through the night, desires were aroused by the music's insinuations that we knew could not be fulfilled in the current environment. Unwittingly the patrolling priests were contributing to the creation of emotions which sooner or later would have to be unleashed. To tell the truth, we could scarcely wait till we were old enough to go to other places where we would be freer. As soon as we did breach the age barrier, we began to use St. Michael's only as a rendezvous before heading for the Long Island night clubs. Once I made the transition, I never returned to St. Michael's.

Pouring Gasoline on a Fire. In¬troducing us at church to rock music with its inherent sexual stimulation and expecting us to restrain ourselves was like pouring gasoline on a fire and expecting it not to ignite.

I see a similar mistake being made today. Those who are clamoring to use today's music as a means for reaching the secular-minded and for keeping our young people in the church seem not to sense the danger. Often I hear—and wrongly so—that Martin Luther used the saloon music of his day and so, if saloon music reached the people then, it must be all right for us to use it today. But talking about Luther's music and rock music is like talking about two different animals.

God's Laws that Govern Music. There are laws that govern what is good music and what is not. This point is essential to any meaningful discussion of the subject of appropriate music. Some people assume that God left music to be a law unto itself, to mutate at will without boundaries. But everything in nature reveals the opposite. All of God's creation is subject to laws.

Take for instance the food we eat. In a time of ignorance, it was supposed that any food was good for a person. Individual taste was sufficient guide as to what to eat. But, as we all know, modern science has revealed the op¬posite. Unrestricted appetite is now known to contribute tragically to fore¬shortened lives. Many kinds of food may be attractive to different palates, but God's laws of nutrition can educate our taste in favor of good health.

The same is true with music. That a person likes a particular kind of music doesn't prove that it is the kind that is best for him. Should not the God-created laws of music determine what a person listens to—or, at least, what a Christian listens to? When compared with the laws of good music, rock music bears no comparison to Luther's "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."

Martin Luther's "A Mighty For¬tress" answers to the norm for proper music. It has a decent balance of the principal ingredients of music, melody, harmony, and rhythm. It is, therefore, definitely not noise! If it is based on bar music, it illustrates that in the relatively Christianized culture of six¬teenth-century Europe, even bar music approximated the rules of good music.

Where Did Rock Come from? Now what about rock music? Did it evolve within a Christianized culture? Not at all. Modern research attests that this polyrhythmical music had its roots in the pagan worship of Africa. It was nurtured in Dahomey, West Africa, recognized as the seat of voodoo re¬ligion. In the rites of voodoo worship, "primitive percussionists learned to in¬duce physiological responses, from ec¬stasy and hallucinations to seizures and unconsciousness."1 From West Africa these pagan rhythms eventually reached New Orleans through the slave trade. From there they made their way to Chicago and then to Philadelphia.2 In Philadelphia Bill Haley championed the new sound. Under his influence it began to became the music of choice among white teenagers.

I was, for a while, a bass player for "The Father of Rock 'n' Roll," Bill Haley, and His Comets. I was fully cognizant of the purpose for which he created his music.

Let us consider the actual term, "rock and roll." It was coined by a Cleveland disk jockey, Alan Freed, as a euphemism for doing sex in the back seat of a car.3 Dr. Alan Bloom says in The Closing of the American Mind that "rock music has one appeal, a barbaric appeal, to sexual desire; not love, but sexual desire undeveloped and un-tutored. It acknowledges the first em¬anations of children's emerging sensuality and addresses them seriously, eliciting them and legitimating them."4 Rock and roll is also known to have "aimless rebellion and anger" inherent in it.5

Rock and roll music that developed in America was at first primarily dance music, the emphasis having shifted from blues to rhythm. It was accepted as a focal point for teenage life, a common bond, an outlet for aggressions, a standard to rally around. "Its insistent basic backbeat and shuffle rhythms," observes William J. Shafer, "demanded a physical response.... So the harsh, direct syncopation of rock and roll came as a physical manifestation of its con¬tent— a challenge to loosen up, to break the old molds of convention and pro¬priety, to express real emotions. The musicians themselves moved and danced as they played, begging the listener to cast off his inhibitions."6

"Its strength [has] always been rooted in the sexual energy of its rhythm," adds Janet Podell. "In that sense," she goes on, "the outraged parents who had seen rock as a threat to their children's virtue were right. Rock 'n' roll made you want to move and shake and get physically excited."7

The composition of the music itself does not focus on the natural beat that is compatible with normal body rhythms, but rather on unnatural syn¬copated beats which in themselves bring harmful effects to the hearer. (An over-simplified explanation of the dif¬ference between natural and syncopated rhythms is that in natural rhythms the stresses come on the first and third beats: "ONE, two, THREE, four," whereas syncopated stresses come unnaturally on the second and fourth beats: "one, TWO, three, FOUR." The natural rhythm is sometimes called the "one three" rhythm, whereas the syncopated rhythm is sometimes called the "two four" rhythm. The effect of the difference between the two rhythms is amazing!)

"Man is essentially a rhythmical being," noted a writer in American Mercury as long ago as 1961. "There is a rhythm in respiration, heart beat, speech, gait, etc. The cerebral hemi¬spheres are in a perpetual state of rhythmical swing day and night. To maintain a sense of well-being and integration, it is essential that man is not subjected too much to any rhythms not in accord with his own natural bodily rhythms."

The writer used the phrase, "too much." But what is too much? If the tempo, or speed, of the music is faster than the body's normal tempo, the consequences are generally a quicken¬ing and over-stimulation of the body processes. The opposite is true of very slow music. So the speed of the music is important as well as its beat.

When the body is subjected to external rhythms, it tends to adapt to them. Soldiers, for instance, are brought into synchronized walking, better known as "marching," when subjected to a drum beat or to a cadence caller. But when the external beat ceases, the soldiers, unless professionally trained, revert to their own body rhythms and are soon out of step with one another. People listening to rhythmic music, good or bad, often start tapping a foot or finger.

Such adaptations of body rhythms to external rhythms are not harmful as long as the rhythms are basically com¬patible with body rhythms; but what if the body is subjected to the complex barrage of rhythms found in rock and roll?

Lessons from Mice. In 1988, Ger¬vasia Schreckenberg and Harvey Bird, two scientists at Princeton University, subjected three groups of mice to three different environments. The control group of mice remained in the lab, surrounded by the normal quiet sounds of scientists at work. The second group was placed in a sound chamber and subjected to classical music at a modest 80-85 decibel level of loudness. The third group, also placed in a sound chamber, was subjected to rock-like rhythms, played at the same modest 80-85 decibel level as the classical music. The mice were being tested this time only for the possible effects of rhythm, not for the effects of loudness.

The control group and the classi¬cal-music group developed in the way laboratory mice usually do, with quiet inquisitive temperaments, good appe¬tites, and glossy fur. They learned quickly the "tricks" that the experi¬menters taught them, such as what object to touch or which tunnel to select in order to get food. By contrast, the group of mice subjected to the rock-like rhythms quickly revealed a reduced ability to learn the "tricks."

The fur of the rock-rhythm mice became dull instead of glossy. Some of the animals became hyperactive and aggressive, even to the point of can¬nibalism, while others became lethargic and inattentive.

As I learned about these mice, I recalled sharply the effects of the music I once helped produce in night clubs. I remembered seeing sensuality, uncon¬trolled emotions, rebellion, violence, and what I would now call devil possession. I heard people on drugs blurt out "Wow!" as they experienced highs stimulated by our music. I also saw extreme lethargy. I confess with shame that our ability to produce these different reactions and sensual respon¬ses to our music filled us with glee. Yes, we knew we were manipulating people's minds.

But back to the mice. The team that experimented with them wanted to know whether the rock-like rhythms that debased behavior also damaged the brain. Upon examination, they dis¬covered that nerve cells in the brains of the mice subjected to the rock-like rhythms had suffered distortion, elon¬gation, and excessive branching, clearly visible under the microscope.8

"Christian Rock." The question arises, can we honestly give something as inherently evil and harmful as rock the name of "Christian" and call it holy? Can we take something that has been scientifically verified as causing brain damage and use it to glorify God?

If calling something "Christian" makes it good, what about "Christian heroin"? What about "Christian liq¬uor"? No. Calling something "God's" doesn't make it His. To the contrary, isn't it the mixing of error with truth that comprises THE WINE OF BABYLON (Apoc. 17:2; 18:3), confusing people and deceiving them? (Sublinierea aparţine lui Zimmer).

Worldly Methods? There is no question but that we need to keep our youth in the church and also reach people who have secular minds. But let us do it the way Jesus did it. Did He use worldly methods? We see nothing worldly either in His own life or in the commission He has given to us. The Bible offers no encouragement to us to employ worldly methods to advance God's work.

Not long ago I was invited to speak about music to groups of young people in Australia. After my meetings I heard many a sad confession from young people who had been weaned away from the church (rather than held inside of it) through the use of contemporary music at worship times. One youth, who was trying to get back into the church, told me — evidently speaking for other youth as well —"My fall from the church began when they started to play gospel rock in church. The gospel rock provided a natural bridge to secular rock, and soon I lost all relish for singing hymns. I lost all love for the church and was out of it before I knew it. I trace my troubles all to music."

Christ's pure, holy methods, un¬sullied by any worldly practice, filled the New Testament church with youth and converted the secular-minded, steeped in materialism. Christ's Word and life were the sources of their power. It was later, when, in order to reach the unreached, the church amalgamated truth with pagan doctrines and practices, that it lost its spiritual power and fell.

Inasmuch as "Babylon" is a con¬fusing mixture of truth and error, good and evil, sacred and profane, should we not earnestly heed the appeal of our Saviour, "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" (Rev 18:2-4)?

May God help us to take seriously His end-time call to separate ourselves from all things worldly, including the bewitching, degrading rhythms of rock and roll.

The truth about rapture

The following five teachings have become very popular:

1. All true Christians will soon vanish in the rapture.
2. Seven years of apocalyptic terror will overtake those left behind.
3. One sinister man—the antichrist—will take over the world.
4. The antichrist will enter a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem, claiming to be God.
5. The nations of earth will attack Israel at Armageddon.

These five concepts are being taught on radio, television, at prophe¬cy conferences, in countless books and magazines, in end time movies, in seminaries, and on the Net.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RAPTURE - 1

Millions of prophecy-minded Christians have nevertheless been taught that soon God's Church will disappear from Planet Earth without a trace. The real question is: Is this doctrine in the Bible? If not, could it be an END TIME DELUSION? Let's find out.

First of all, the Bible certainly does teach the truth that Jesus Christ will return for His people. Our Lord Himself said, "I will come again and receive you to Myself" (John 14:3). But will He come invisibly? Will the Church disappear? Does the Bible really teach vanishing Christians? Without a doubt, the most quoted passage used to support the rapture concept is 1 Thessalonians 4:17. There Paul wrote that true believers will someday be "caught up... in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (1 Thessalonians 4:17). But does "caught up" mean disappear? Is Paul describing a silent return of Jesus Christ before an apocalyptic seven-year tribulation? We don't need to guess. The answer is in the context.

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

Rapture teachers interpret this event as silent and secret, yet doesn't it seem rather loud and visible? There is a shout, a voice, a trumpet. Have you ever heard of a silent trumpet? The truth is, 1 Thessalonians 4:16 is one of the noisiest verses in the Bible! Look carefully: Jesus Christ comes down from Heaven shouting and blowing a trumpet. The dead rise. Then true believers are "caught up." Honestly, do you see anything here about vanishing Christians prior to the tribulation? Rapture promoters interpret "caught up" to mean disappear because this view fits their prophetic sys¬tem, yet it must be admitted that the text doesn't say this.
Two thousand years ago, at the end of His earthly life, Jesus Christ was also "taken up," (Acts 1:9). This doesn't mean He disappeared, leaving His clothes on earth. Instead, in full view of His wondering disciples, "WHILE THEY WATCHED, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight" (Acts 1:9). This event was highly visible. Luke said Jesus Christ was "taken up," and then clouds are mentioned, just like Paul wrote about believers being "caught up...in the clouds."

Notice carefully the full context of Acts 1:9:

“Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, WILL SO COME IN LIKE MANNER AS YOU HAVE SEEN HIM GO INTO HEAVEN" (Acts 1:9-11).

The angels told the disciples that just as Jesus was literally and visibly "taken up" into the clouds, even so would He "come in like manner as [they had seen] Him go into heaven." They taught no secret coming or vanishing Christians. Everything will be highly visible, just like the ascension of Jesus Christ.

Let's return to 1 Thessalonians and take a look at the thief-in-the-night idea:

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief IN THE NIGHT. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labour pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-5:3).

Here Paul compares the coming of Jesus Christ to the arrival of a mid¬night thief. Rapture promoters interpret this to mean Jesus will come like a silent thief to snatch believers off this earth before seven years of tribulation — then driverless cars will crash, pilotless planes will collide, and babies will be found missing from their cribs. Yet is this really what Paul is saying?

First of all, the day when Jesus comes as a thief is clearly the very same day in which He descends with a shout and a trumpet blast. Secondly, it comes as "a thief in the night" only upon the unprepared. When it hits, "sud¬den destruction comes upon them [the lost], as labour pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape."
Do you see what Paul is really saying? Jesus' coming as a "thief in the night" does not mean He will come quietly and invisibly to steal believers out of this world, as is taught in rapture movies and New York Times bestselling books. Rather, it means He will come unexpectedly, bringing "sudden destruction" upon the unsaved. Thus it is not a secret coming, but only a sudden one. Will the unprepared get a "second chance" to be saved during a subse¬quent seven-year tribulation? Paul answered this question when he wrote, "They shall not escape" (verse 3).

Here's a simple summary of what 1 Thessalonians 4:16-5:3 really says:

•	Jesus Christ will literally descend from Heaven with a shout and a trumpet blast.
•	The dead in Christ will rise first and true believers will be "caught up," just like Jesus Christ Himself was visibly "taken up" into the sky almost 2,000 years ago.
•	This cataclysmic "day of the Lord" will burst upon the unprepared like the unexpected arrival of a midnight thief.
•	"Sudden destruction" will overwhelm the lost, "and they shall not escape."

These words describe the visible second coming of Jesus Christ, not a secret rapture. Immediately after his solemn prediction of Christ's return as a midnight thief, Paul wrote to true believers: "But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness" (1 Thessalonians 5:4-5).

WHAT JOHN WESLEY SAID

"I want to know one thing—the way to heaven, how to land on that happy shore. God Himself has condescended to teach the way; for this very end He came from heaven. He hath written it down in a book! O give me that book! At any price give me that book of God! I have it; here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be a man of one book."

I for one LOVED my sunday school time, had a lot of fun there. im sure its the same with a lot of you guys here.
so this thread is here to share your favourite memories concerning sunday school.
you can bring up anything: stories, songs, poems, events, games, funny stuff, etc.

ill start this off: so my sunday school teachers used to tell us Bible stories such as the life of Joseph,Esther, etc.,and they used figures made of scai (dont know the english word, sorry) and reconstruited the stories on a special board on which they put this figures of the carachters and places.
they had a very exciting way of telling those stories, i just loved listening to them

we also played games, like making some groups, and then they said a place in the Bible (book, chapter and ver) and we had to find the verses.
the group that found the vers first, got a point, and in the end the group with the most points has won.
i remember having been once the only girl in my group and it was me who made all the points for my group. the teacher said: "Guys, be glad that you have a girl there, otherwise..." lol :p:

Re-interpretation of Sodom and Gomorrah

We all know the common interpretation of Sodom and Gomorrah....that God decided to destroy the twin cities solely because of homosexuality. Even as a younger youth sitting in church and listening to sermons on this biblical moment, I had a problem accepting this interpretation because it didn't make logical sense. It didn't make sense to believe that ALL the men of Sodom were homosexuals. Here is why:

The bible says in Genesis 19:4: "Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house."

Many are quick to jump to the conclusion that all these men were homosexual. First it is illogical to assume that ALL the men in two cities were homosexual. That is severely unrealistic and naive. Secondly, at the time, Sodom and Gomorrah were prosperous cities within the same region. One factor in economic prosperity is a constant maintenance of a sizeable population. If all the men in Sodom and Gomorrah were gay, there would have been no population growth, therefore no economic prosperity.

In addition to this historical fact, scripture does not mention homosexuality as a reason of Sodom and Gomorrah's fall:

Ezekiel 16:49-50: "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness (sic) of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."

Even a part of the Apocrypha addresses this issue in the book called Wisdom of Solomon:

Wisdom 19:13: "The sin of Sodom was a bitter hatred of strangers and making slaves of guests who were benefactors."

In these verses there is no explicit mention of homosexuality...so what can be concluded?

It can easily be concluded from Ezekiel that the twin cities had a problem with greed and selfishness. They were living in abundance to the point where they forgot about hospitality or charity. So when the angels of God showed up at Sodom, they were perceived as strangers and as a possible threat to their selfish lifestyle. Therefore the men of Sodom gathered around Lot's house, NOT because they were ALL attracted to these men (something very unlikely). The words used in Genesis describe a struggle where the men tried to force themselves on God's angels. What they wanted was an attempt to rape as an act of humiliation. A look at history in the ancient times reveals that men were in fact raped by other men. This would humiliate the victims because they were being subjected sexually as women were. Therefore, the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was not homosexuality, but the violation of God's hospitality code towards strangers.

What do you guys think?

P.S. for those of you who did not realize right away, this is not a discussion on the morality of homosexuality, but of the reasons leading to Sodom and Gomorrah's fall.

GOD HAS BEEN SUMMONED TO APPEAR IN COURT

Trim and physically fit at 70 years old, his hair and beard whitened by time, the man with a gentle face moved at a steady pace. He looked like a loving grandfather on his way to bring a present to his grandchildren. At least, that's what anyone would think seeing him walk down the streets of the city, with his dark suit, a leather briefcase in his right hand.

But the truth is different. The man didn't have a present for anyone. His briefcase hid a bomb-that is, a "bomb" in the form of the news he was carrying. It was news that would shake public opinion around the world and stir up controversy. As the news spread, a lot of people thought the old fellow was crazy. Others believed that he was engaged in an exercise of self promotion. At any rate, Ernie Chambers, independent state senator in Nebraska, was known as an old, argumentative, and irreverent politician.

On that morning of September 14, 2007, senator Chambers went into the Douglas County courthouse and filed a lawsuit against God. He demanded that God stop causing so much terror in the world.

In the petition that he filed the Afro-American attorney who had never practiced law accused God of causing "fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects and the like." He said the Deity was responsible for "calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction," and he asked the court for an injunction ordering God to cease and desist.

Read about it to: http://www.ketv.com/news/14133442/detail.html

I would like to know your opinion about that case.
