Vote new Features on ROYOUTH - June 2005

At this past Atlanta Youth Convention I spoke on the positive impact that 'e-ministry' can have within our ethnic romanian community. the youth pastors and leaders there, encouraged us to take royouth and provide more of a spiritual resource for youth within the romanian community. there were a few topics brought up that i thought would make a great addition to provide further resources to not just 'connect us', but to help us 'grow spiritually' as is part of our mission statement for royouth.com.

Listed below are a few options that may or may not be included in the future. Some are more focused on Spiritual Growth, others, are additional resources to connect us. Please vote on as many as you want as to what you would like to see in the near future on royouth.com

Choices:

1. Virtual Bible Class - A respected pastor/youth leader leads a particular 'virtual classroom' on relevant subject for youth.

2. Subject Articles - A collection of Articles by royouth members, youth pastors, leaders, and other authors that speak on hard to answer issues that youth deal with every day.

3. Audio Sermons/Music - A collection of audio download of sermons by youth targeted pastors/leaders and royalty free music that music artists allow for download.

4. Free Classifieds - This feature has been requested by many members. A free classifieds area for youth to swap items. A type of "craigslist.com" idea. Items are organized by States/regions.

5. Event Ticket System - A central place where you can buy and/or reserve tickets for certain ethnic Romanian events such as conventions, conferences, etc. This idea is used alot by many 'american' organizations that help sponsor and promote events. This would be a great fit for royouth since it already promotes most of the major ethnic Romanian events globally.


This poll will stay open for 30 days ... afterwards the top choices will be seriously taken into consideration as the next features added on royouth.

The article feature was tried before...and it didn't work so well...but if there was a moderator that took it upon themselves to screen pre-written articles and post them...it would work well...and it might prevent some of the threads on "is it a sin to..." because people can reference a professional article incorporating Biblical wisdom...instead of just asking everyone's opinion. As for the RoClassifieds...it could work...however you would have to start out with strict rules on whether you can sell, just trade, whether "matrimoniale" are permitted or anything else. I personally would really like to see the virtual Bible classes started...because that would be a great thing to really make RoYouth a dynamic learning tool. If recorded sermons and music were available...that would also bring in another element and help to attract even more youth to become involved with more than just the photo albums (no offense to the photo albums). Also...there is a significant minority on RoYouth who are not Romanian-fluent. If the dynamics for an online Bible study would work...perhaps online Romanian lessons...beginning and intermediate...using Christian resources and articles so that people can practice their reading and comprehension skills using directed reading segments with vocabulary. I am not sure of the demand for this...but I have noticed several postings by people asking for help with their Romanian. This also be merged with the online Bible study if it will be conducted in Romanian...kind of a Bible study "lite" for people with less vocabulary...or for people that speak Romanian just fine...but want a less rigorous course of study. Just my ideas...

I voted for them all. I like the Virtual Bible Classes.... but they all sound great!!!

actualy royouth is realy fast now.. but i have 8mb connection.. so must be your connection which is slow

none of these features would slow royouth down. royouth only runs slow if:

1. you are on a dailup connection.
2. there is a SUPER amount of activity happening at once (server load to high)
3. some other server glitches that last only a few moments.

I'm in for the sermons and music though I hesitate against the virtual bible classes for one main reason.... our church should be the main priority place for us to get such information. Yes, it is good if we use it as a supplement, but there is that slight danger that people could begin to decrease their time in church. I dunno, I could be way off. It is just the idea that when you are at church, you are together as a family. A gathering place to be in 'communion' with one another. That is not to say the same cannot be true of the virtual world, but we all know that when you study and pray together in person, it makes all of the difference. Coming together under God's 'house' is one of the great benefits and joys, I believe. Anywho, that's my 2 cents.

4. Free Classifieds - This is an awesome idea. It would be like having our own small version of Ebay, without having to pay for it, and it would be soooo much easier to ask questions about whatever we are want to sell or buy.

music...we need music! i agree with calinbisou about the virtual bible classes...but i kinda think that people will just do the classes as an EXTRA besides church...its not like someones gonna stop goin to church all together cuz they got the classes online.... so i dont think it would be much of a problem in that way. but music...that would be awesome! you could sell songs for Robucks! or make them free...whatever floats ur boat. they all sound great though.

definitely yes to audio sermons .....gosh i here so many good sermons that i just cant wait to share with others cause they like touched me so much.

and def. yes for the classifieds thingy. that would be really neat.

and the whole online tkt/reservations thingy. i think that is a very very smart idea. why didnt i come up with that one? just kidding. lol
